Crude Oil and Gas Production Falls in First Elevent Months
Crude oil production in Vietnam was down 7.8 per cent on-year in the first eleven months of this year to 16.9 million metric tons, according to a governmental source.
The Southeast Asian nation tapped 1.48 million tons in November, down 8.9 per cent against the same period last year, it said.
In the eleven-month period ending in November, Vietnam extracted 5.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas, up 2.4 per cent on year. However, its November production was down 28.9 per cent to 443,000 million cubic meters.
In the meantime, the country saw a deep fall in liquefied petroleum gas output by 8.2 per cent and 24.8 per cent on-year in the January-November period and November alone to 306,300 tons and 23,600 tons, respectively.
“The fall in gas output resulted from slower gas sales in the domestic market due to high gas prices,” an official from the Ministry of Industry said, refusing to mention the reasons for the fall in crude oil production.
Vietnam, the sixth largest crude oil producer in Asia, exported 16.5 million tons worth $6.77 billion between January and November, down 7.6 per cent in volume but up 30.3 per cent in value.
