Dam San Artistic Troupe Brings Culture of Central Highland to the World

Dam San Artistic Troupe was closely attached to the revolution and local people in the anti-French and anti-American wars as well as in the present period of national socio-economic development. In each development period, the artists have always created good impressions among the public.
 
For affirming its expertise in art performance, the artists work very hard and try to approach practical life as much as possible to create special acts meeting the tastes of the general public.
 
Since 1977, the troupe has maintained the practice of providing two performances a year to serve people in remote and difficult areas. It has also actively taken part in national art festivals and achieved many awards.

In July of 1993, the Ministry of Culture - Information and the Department of Art and Performance selected the troupe to represent Vietnam at the Asian Cultural Exchange held in Thailand. In August of 1997, it provided the performance serving people in five big Chinese cities on the occasion of 50th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
 
In order to better itself, Dam San Artistic Troupe always tries to enhance the efficiency and quality of services with a skilful combination of traditional and modern characteristics. Many artistic items have been highly valued by the public and become works that typify traditional art especially in dance and music. Many artists have left good impressions in the hearts of the public including Y Don, Nhat Lai, People’s Artist Ybrom, People’s Artist Xuan La, Meritorious Artist Kim Nho, singers H’Ben, Mang Thi Hoi, Linh Nga, Thuy Ha, Ali Vien, Chau Thang, Ban Quy, Nguyet Nga, Tran Hanh and Quang Tam as well as the traditional instrument musicians such as Thao Giang, Duc Ha and Nay Phan Inheriting the achievements of former artistic generations, the present artists have also brought fame to the Artistic Troupe in the Central Highlands.
 
For its great contribution in art performance activities, Dam San Artistic Troupe has been granted many honourable awards by the State: five Labour Medals of the first grade, two Labour Medals of the second and the third grades with hundreds of gold and silver medals at national and international festivals. Along with the recognition of Cong – Chieng Culture by UNESCO as non-physical cultural heritage, with the talent of Dam San artists, the cultural characteristics of the Central Highlands will soon be brought to every country and territory around the world.
