Stopping Licensing Automobile Manufacturing and Assembly Projects
In its documents sent to the People’s Committees of provinces and cities, the Ministry of Industry proposed an end to the licensing of automobile manufacturing and assembly projects from February 1, 2006.
At present, the capability of enterprises manufacturing and assembling trucks and passenger cars has exceeded the demand and may meet the expected output until 2010.
According to the Ministry of Industry, a further licensing of projects on manufacturing and assembly of automobiles may lead to a production surplus and ineffective investment. At present, over 10 enterprises are accelerating their projects on manufacturing and assembly low cost cars in 2006.
