60 Foreign-invested Enterprises to be Awarded Golden Dragon Prize

The award ceremony of the Golden Dragon Prize - a prize awarded to foreign-invested businesses in Vietnam based on votes and assessments from readers of the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper will take place on the evening of January 20, 2006 at Hanoi Opera House.

It is an annual prize, which has been organised by the Vietnam Economic Times in coordination with the Investment and Planning Ministry since 2001. This is the fifth year that the prize has contributed to the implementation of Vietnamese Government‘s guidelines on foreign investment encouragement.

According to Prof. Dao Nguyen Cat, editor-in-chief of the Vietnam Economic Times, this prize not only encourages foreign enterprises operating in to expand operations but also makes further contributions to the development of ’s economy.

The fifth Golden Dragon Prize expanding in both size and number of businesses will be awarded to 60 businesses with greatest achievements voted by readers and assessed by a highly reputable jury. Enterprises participating in the competition must be operating in fields of manufacturing and/or providing services in the following sectors: car, motorbike, car and motorbike spare parts; agriculture-forestry-fishery, foodstuff, beverage; construction, construction material and property; finance, bank; IT; petroleum; education. Included this year are Chinfon Hai Phong, Samsung Vina, Ford, Vietnam Brewery Ltd., ANZ, Lavie , Sanofi, Total Vietnam.  Prizes will be awarded to enterprises which are prominent in their fields such as prizes for businesses with good operation; many contributions to Vietnam’s economy; best quality goods and services which are great favourites of consumers; prize for prominent exporters, great contributions to the State budge revenue, social activities and job creation.

In the framework of the investors’ festival, a forum with the topic: “Sharing for success” will be held on January 20 at Hanoi Melia Hotel. In the coming time, a Golden Dragon Club for winners may be established.
