Vietnam has approved an overall plan for the Cam Ranh Airport, located on central Khanh Hoa province’s Cam Ranh Peninsular, until 2015 and towards 2025 with total investment of nearly VND3 trillion (US$189.9 million).

The project, approved by the Minister of Transport Dao Dinh Binh and covering a total area of 751 hectares of land, will be carried out in two phases. Between now and 2015, the Cam Ranh Airport is set to receive a maximum of 16 airplanes at the same time during peak hours and 1.5 million passengers each year on average.

By 2025, the airport during peak times is expected to receive a maximum of 21 aircrafts including more modern airplanes like the Boeing 767-300 and Boeing 777-200, and serve 2.65 million customers each year.

Khanh Hoa, 450 km north of southern Ho Chi Minh City, is considered one of the most attractive destinations in Vietnam. Cam Ranh Peninsula is near its metropolis city of Nha Trang which is home to Van Phong Bay – one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
