Hanoi has a fairly large agricultural production area and many product groups suitable for production scale for export. Currently, Hanoi's main agricultural export products are cinnamon, star anise, spices (garlic, ginger, chili), green tea, black tea, rice, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms... Hanoi has about 70 enterprises exporting agricultural products to the East Asian market. This is also the main export market for Hanoi's agricultural products. In addition, Hanoi's agricultural products are also exported to markets in Europe, the US, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In 2023, agricultural exports will bring Hanoi Agriculture over 1.35 billion USD. This is an impressive figure because Hanoi Agriculture is still facing many difficulties.

According to the Hanoi Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development, the city currently has over 13,000 agricultural, forestry and fishery production and trading establishments, including more than 1,700 processing establishments and more than 250 agricultural, forestry and fishery processing enterprises. The city has been granted 16 fruit growing area codes and 4 packaging facilities with a capacity of 30 - 50 tons/day/facility to serve export, of which 8 codes are granted for banana growing areas and 8 codes are granted for longan growing areas.


Organic melon production

Hanoi has been closely coordinating with 43 provinces and cities to maintain and support the development of 926 safe food supply chains, connecting the city's export enterprises with production chains in many localities, marking active and proactive cooperation. Hanoi currently has a number of high-quality agricultural products exported to countries such as the US (exporting Dai Thanh late longan), Germany (exporting Dong Phu organic rice), South Korea (exporting Van Duc safe vegetables), China (exporting pink bananas) ...

Besides, Hanoi also has many agricultural products with export potential such as rice (about 7,000 hectares of Japonica rice), safe vegetables (over 5,000 hectares), organic vegetables (over 50 hectares) and many high-quality processed products. In recent times, Hanoi has supported businesses, including Agricultural Development and Environmental Consulting Company Limited, to exploit the strengths and incentives in FTAs ​​such as: CPTPP Agreement, EVFTA, some new commitments with the UK, UAE ... to boost exports. Currently, on average, each year the company produces about 300 tons of dried cinnamon, 200 tons of dried star anise, 500 tons of fresh ginger, 100 tons of dried turmeric and 200 tons of fresh chili peppers... The products are mainly exported to the US, some European countries, Korea, Japan, Russia, Australia...

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture will continue to advise and propose to the city to adjust, supplement and issue new mechanisms and policies to promote agricultural exports, especially key agricultural products; strengthen training for enterprises, production and trading establishments of agriculture, forestry and fishery on regulations on quality assurance, food safety and control of imported and exported food. The Hanoi Department of Agriculture will also strengthen the dissemination of trade agreements and import conditions of countries to improve production capacity and quality of agricultural products. At the same time, organizing connections, promoting trade, and advertising products abroad is an important part of Hanoi's agricultural export strategy.
