From November 25–28, Argentine Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski made his first working visit to Ho Chi Minh City since taking office. His activities included courtesy calls to Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders and the Department of Foreign Affairs, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and explore further cooperation opportunities with the city.

Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski also met with Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem, Director of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM), to discuss bilateral relations, the roles of their markets in trade and investment policies, and ways to unlock untapped potential. Argentina and Vietnam share a robust trade partnership, with Argentina ranking as Vietnam's 29th largest trading partner in 2023, achieving U$3.446 billion in total trade. From January to July 2024, bilateral trade reached U$1.986 billion. Over the past decade, Vietnam has remained one of Argentina's top 10 trading partners and its leading partner in Southeast Asia.

He attended the inauguration of Sadesa Vietnam, an Argentine-owned leather factory with a US$20 million investment, set to start operations in late 2024 with an initial capacity of 1.5 million ft²/month and 150 employees. This highlights Argentine investment in Vietnam and the economic ties between the two countries.

He also attended the opening of Biogenesis Bagó’s regional headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City. The Argentine biotech firm, with over 80 years of expertise, specializes in veterinary products, including vaccines for foot-and-mouth disease and rabies, serving advanced markets like Vietnam.

He chaired a workshop with Vietnamese tour operators to promote Argentina as a tourist destination and facilitate tourism market exchange between the two countries.

He also met with Vietnamese press representatives to highlight Argentina’s 2024 achievements and share updates on the Argentina-Vietnam partnership across various sectors.

A consular itinerancy, led by Secretary Tomas Oyuela, was organized to assist Argentine citizens in southern Vietnam with consular services, eliminating the need to travel to Hanoi. The activity also allowed the Ambassador to meet and engage with the local Argentine community.

To support cultural exchanges, the Embassy is pleased to announce the "Saigon Tango Meeting," taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 28 to December 1. The event will bring together Tango dancers from around the world, including Argentine maestros, and features six Milongas, eight workshops, and professional performances by international artists.
