To meet market needs for human resources, especially highly qualified personnel, many solutions have been effectively implemented by Hau Giang province in recent years.

Improving the quality of vocational education

The network of Hau Giang province-based technical and vocational education and training (TVET) facilities has been consolidated and arranged to focus on key industries and occupations. Conditions for ensuring TVET quality have been gradually enhanced to meet high-quality personnel training requirements. The province currently has seven TVET - continuing education centers and a continuing education center.

In 2024, Hau Giang organized a workshop on “Current situations - Solutions to improve the operational quality of TVET - continuing education centers in the province” and a self-made training equipment competition vied by eight units with 21 authors/co-authors of registered equipment. The organizing committee awarded two first prizes, two second prizes, two third prizes and 10 consolation prizes to individuals.

The province also organized the Vocational Education and Training Admissions and Employment Consultation Day and commended 13 outstanding examples of vocational training and career counselling facilities for advising more than 400 students. The event aimed to introduce and advise on student admissions, career prospects and employment opportunities for secondary and high-school students in the province. Nga Bay City People’s Committee co-hosted a job fair, career guidance and admissions consultation day for over 700 participants and more than 1,000 visitors. The province provided vocational training for 11,171 people, with 357 at college level, 903 at intermediate level and 9,911 at elementary level.

In addition, the province focused on promoting communications to effectively stream students into TVET facilities; coordinated with businesses to train/retrain workers, foster high-quality human resources, increase training occupations, expand the scale of college and intermediate training, and reduce elementary education; and coupled vocational education with market demand and sustainable employment.

Effective labor and employment affairs

In 2024, the province generated jobs for 24,925 workers, sent 716 contractual workers to work abroad, and hosted 94 job fairs for unemployment beneficiaries with 5,927 attendants.

It advised the Provincial People's Committee on labor administration in industrial zones in Hau Giang province and coordinated with relevant bodies to prepare content for the “Listen and Exchange” workshop on vocational training, job settlement and overseas contractual worker support organized by the Provincial People's Council.

Hau Giang promoted support for workers working overseas for a given period of time; organized review conferences on business coordination in sending 80 contractual workers abroad; and opened 54 job fairs for unemployment beneficiaries for 4,743 workers and 54 companies. It conducted 14 business surveys in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City on support for contractual workers sent to work abroad.

Hau Giang submitted the budget for worker training to meet the recruitment demand of companies in local digital industrial parks in 2024-2025 to the Provincial People’s Committee for approval. With ongoing efforts to execute chosen solutions, the Hau Giang labor sector will continue to affirm its important role in supporting local socioeconomic development.
