The international Famtrip for foreign tour operators, held on April 8, 2026 in Viet Tri ward of Phu Tho province, is not only a tourism promotion effort but also shows the province’s proactive shift in its strategy to approach the international market.

With the participation of more than 80 tour operators from 8 countries and territories, the event created new expectations for bringing Phu Tho’s tourism further afield and gradually strengthening its position on the regional map.
In the context of global tourism recovering strongly after fluctuations, the trend of seeking destinations rich in cultural identity and unique experiences has been increasing. This is a clear advantage of Phu Tho, the ancestral land of the Vietnamese nation, where historical, cultural, and spiritual values converge. A typical example is the Hung Kings Temple Special National Relic Site, a sacred symbol associated with the Hung Kings worship belief, a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Phu Tho also possesses a diverse tourism ecosystem, ranging from midland and mountainous landscapes to villages rich in cultural identity. Products such as community-based tourism in Hung Lo Ancient Village or the Tay Thien to Tam Dao experience route have been attracting strong interest, particularly from international visitors seeking local cultural discovery.
Data from 2025 shows positive signals for the local tourism sector, with about 14.5 million visitors and total revenue reaching VND14,800 billion (US$592 million). However, to achieve the goal of becoming a distinctive cultural and festival tourism center of the country and a leading destination in the northern region, Phu Tho requires stronger momentum in market development, product offerings, and connectivity.
Therefore, organizing international Famtrip delegations is considered an effective solution to shorten the distance between destinations and travel enterprises. Instead of indirect promotion, businesses directly experience and evaluate services, thereby building tour programs suitable for customer preferences in each market. This approach has also been applied by many successful tourism destinations.
A notable point is that at the program, Phu Tho provincial leaders sent a clear message of working alongside businesses, committing to a favorable and transparent investment and business environment. Beyond invitations, the province has set a direction to support product development, improve market connectivity, promote two-way tourist exchange, and gradually develop stable international tourism routes.
In addition, Phu Tho’s tourism development direction is also aligned with emerging trends, focusing on digital transformation, improving service quality, and enhancing visitor experience. Building the destination image of “safe, friendly and professional” is not only a slogan but is being implemented through coordinated policies and actions.
From the business perspective, many opinions at the program appreciated Phu Tho’s potential and preparation. International enterprises expressed readiness to cooperate and develop suitable products to bring visitors to the locality in the coming period. This shows that, if properly developed, Phu Tho can become an emerging destination in the journey of exploring Vietnam for international travelers.
Phu Tho provincial leaders affirmed that this Famtrip initiative is not limited to promoting the destination image but also serves as a foundation for building long-term cooperative relations between Phu Tho and international partners. In the tourism development strategy, this serves as a soft tool with sustainable effectiveness. With the determination of local authorities and the cooperation of businesses, Phu Tho tourism is entering a period of opportunity for stronger growth, gradually working toward the goal of becoming an attractive destination in the region and internationally.
