A consultancy and design bidding package worth US$2.57 million to build a new passenger terminal at the Danang International Airport in the central region was signed yesterday between the Central Airport Authority, the project owner, and an international consortium.
The consortium comprises of the US’s Louis Berger Group Inc., the Netherlands Airport Consultants B.V., and the Vietnam National Construction Consultants Co. The consortium will implement work in six months.
Construction on the new passenger terminal, which has been recently agreed to by the Government, is scheduled to start late this year with total investment of US$75 million and on an area of 34,000sq.m.
When completed, the terminal, which will be equipped with facilities meeting international standards, is expected to handle 4 million passengers a year and will turn the Danang Airport into a modern international airport.
With Hoi An World Heritage site only 30 minutes from Danang and the Royal City of Hue 2 hours away, the new airport facility is hoped to boost regional visits and development in the region.
