Vietnam to Execute 11 Energy-Saving Projects in 2006-2015
Vietnam is expected to kick off 11 energy-saving projects worth VND518 billion (US$32.784 million) from now to 2015, according to the Ministry of Industry (MoI).
These projects are components of two national energy programs including the national program for energy efficiency & utility for the 2006-2015 period and the electricity-saving program from now to 2010, the MoI proposed at the meeting yesterday.
MoI said it will be implementing seven projects including labeling power-saving appliances, energy economization, raising the power efficiency of industrial production enterprises, economical utility of power for public lights, popularizing solar-run equipment and using other alternative energy sources, and testing bio-energy as an alternative for transport means.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Education and Training will integrate energy efficiency policies into the national educational systems whilst the Ministry of Construction will be in charge of two other projects to raise capacity and build management models for economical power utilities in buildings, the MoI said.
The Ministry of Transport will be responsible for minimizing fuel consumption and waste in transport means while fully tapping advantages of its traffic facilities, MoI added.
“During the implementation of the two programs, it is necessary to integrate into other programs in the prioritized list”, Industry Minister Hoang Trung Hai said, adding that each project will need the detailed feasible measures to set up energy-saving centers and
highlight moves of communicative media to heighten people’s awareness of power savings as well as proposing the establishment of the State Steering Committee in the next quarters.
