HCM City Needs US$63.291Mln for Power Grid Plan
Ho Chi Minh City, the southern economic hub of Vietnam, will need VND1 trillion (US$63.291 million) to build and upgrade its electricity network in three districts in the 2006-2010 period, local authorities said.
Under the plan, the power sector will raise the maximum capacity of electricity networks to 130 megawatts in district 2, 120MW in district 5 and 190MW in district 9.
This plan is aimed to raise the electricity consumption per capita to more than 3,100 kW by 2010 from 1,500kV now and bury underground the new low-voltage systems in freshly built urban zones, The Department of Industry (DoI) officials said.
Electricity plans for the remaining city districts are to be announced soon, while the first-ever publication of the electricity grid blueprint will be posted in public places and at conferences, MoD added.
