New Heights for Vietnam-China Trade Relation

An interview with Mr Cao Bo Chun, Party Secretary of Guangxi province, China at the Guangxi Exhibition in Hanoi on April 15, 2006.
           
Could you introduce the exhibition?
The exhibition has 128 stalls from 126 Guangxi enterprises from various industries : automobile, construction machines, telecommunications, electrical appliances, textiles and garments and chemistry.
 
In addition to the exhibition, Guangxi and Vietnamese businesses have also seminar promoting cooperation and investment, signing agreements and MOUs on dozens of projects valued at US$181 million, especially in auto assembly, farming machines and mobile telephones.
 
What are the Guangxi’s potentials?
Although Guangxi is an autonomous region of ethnic minorities, its socio-economic developments in recent years have attained a growth rate of 12.7 per cent and per capita income of over US$1,000. The industry is complete with mechanics, electronics, agricultural mechanics, pharmaceuticals most suitable for Vietnam. The agriculture is also fully developed.
 
How do you evaluate the cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam?
With the fast and favourable cooperation between the two countries, Guangxi wishes to increase economic and trade relations with Vietnam, increasing the turnover to US$1.3 billion and to US$10 billion by 2010.
 
As Guangxi is within the “economic ring and two corridors” of developed networks of roads and railways linking Guangxi - Hanoi - Quang Ninh - Haiphong and further on to ASEAN countries. Guangxi will contribute to the establishment of the common border of peace and friendship, stability and development.
