The Coffee Co. 49, upgraded from a plantation, has turned a harsh land in Krong Nang into a cash-generating zone, providing jobs for thousands of labourers.

At present, the company, set up over two decades ago, has become a busy socio-economic zone with rather developed electricity, traffic and school systems. The firm was assigned to manage 2,563 ha of natural land and 159.3 ha of joint venture land in Dileya Commune. The total cultivated land area is 2,646 ha. The current total number of employees is 1,191 people, including 123 ethnic minorities.

In the latest two years, the business operations have stably grown and been profitable. In 2005, the medium worker income is VND6.7 million/head/year.

The Coffee Co. 49 will go public in 2006-2010. To realise this target, the company needs active and synchronous measures to attract capable and skilled cadres to expand production, increase tree productivity and restore processing activities to improve product quality to create jobs for locals. Besides, the company will develop its headquarters region into a town to attract investment of all economic sectors. The firm will transform coffee areas along provincial roads into residential areas and submit the Vietnam Coffee Corp. and local governments a plan for changing land use purposes to attract investment in the future town’s infrastructure.
