A Prestigious Coffee Exporter
The Central Highlands Coffee Investment and Import-Export Joint Stock Company was set up in September 2004 from the upgrading of a branch of the Vietnam Coffee Corp in Dak Lak Province with 170 employees.
To expand business network, the company has strengthened its subsidiary units: sales agents and branches in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Gia Lai and Dak Nong Province. Besides, the company also maintained and developed a series of purchase agents as well as satellite units from Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces to Lam Dong Province in order to purchase coffee produced by farmers in focal areas.
The firm has invested more than VND35 billion to build a 3-ha warehouse, capable of storing 100,000 tonnes, and preservation and processing equipment to ensure the coffee quality. The factories are also fitted with modern and synchronous equipment to guarantee high productivity and efficiency. In particular, the company has applied the ISO 9001-2000 standards to its factories. Hence, its products have won the trust of customers. The firm was the unique all-faceted excellent exporting unit of the Ministry of Trade in 2003.
The export volume of the company is always on the rise and makes up for 20 per cent of the country’s total coffee export volume. If the coffee export volume was only 94,445 tonnes valued at US$62.2 million and total revenues hit VND867 billion (US$54.18 million) in 2000, the export volume soared to nearly 200,000 tonnes, or 50 per cent of total export volume in Dak Lak, in 2005 and the profit recorded VND15 billion. The products of the company have been supplied to many global firms like global Nestle, Lavazza (Italia), Kraft Foods (Germany) and over 50 countries worldwide.
With these admirable achievements, the Central Highlands Coffee Investment and Import Joint Stock Company has been awarded many commendations and rewards from the State, the Government, ministries and branches: certificates of merits for excellent export achievements, Vietnam Quality Award, Asia-Pacific Award, Vietnamese Golden Star Award and emulation flags from the Dak Lak Provincial People Committee. Notably, the State President conferred a third-grade Labour Order and a second-grade Labour Order to the company. At present, the company is expanding its market and diversifying its robusta and arabica coffee products.
