Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Van Bang met with nearly 90 U.S. entrepreneurs at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on June 29 in order to prepare for the visit of US President George W. Bush during the APEC Summit in November.

At the meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), Bang informed US business circles about the preparation of Vietnam and also made comments on relations between the two countries.

He also praised the contribution of US firms to the development of cooperation between Vietnam and the US, especially the support for Vietnam’s proposal to receive permanent normal trade relations from the US congress.

Two-way trade grew to nearly $8 billion in 2005, a 400 percent increase since 2001, and Vietnam was among the fastest growing US markets in Asia for US goods over the past four years.

They all agreed that the market of Vietnam, with a population of more than 80 million and a high growth rate is a great potential destination for American investors and business people.
