Malaysian Firms Seeking Investment Opportunities in Ho Chi Minh City

A delegation of 25 Malaysian enterprises will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City early next month to explore the city’s construction and real estate markets for investment chances in the coming time, according to the municipal Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC).
 
During their stay in Vietnam, the delegation will be introduced to the overall investment climate of the city with investment procedures, as well as the development orientation for the fields of construction and real estate.
 
As planned, the businesses will meet with the city authorities to discuss investment cooperation.
 
The ITPC also revealed that more and more Malaysian companies have been recently flocking into Vietnam, looking for investment prospects and many others want to expand their operations in the country.
 
Malaysian carton company Box-park Bhd will spend another US$545,000 to expand its production capacity to 25,000 tons of paper annually from the current level of 20,000 tons in Vietnam. 
 
Meanwhile, Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (MFM) covering 17 different brands of flour for the Vietnamese market, also targets to complete the expansion of its flourmill in northern Vietnam, Vimaflour Ltd, by no later than the fourth quarter of this year.
 
Besides, Telekom Malaysia Company is considering penetrating the Southeast-Asian market with direct investment strategies or by acquiring share holdings.
 

By the end of May this year, Malaysia had 191 projects in Vietnam at a registered capital of US$1.57 billion, mostly in the sectors of oil & gas, light and heavy industries and the service industry, standing as one of the largest investors in the country.
