ICT- Bridging the Disabled with the Community
The Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP), the National Coordinating Council on Disabilities (NCCD) and the National Steering Committee for Information Technology have jointly organised the “ICT - Lighting the Hope for the Disabled” Award. The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the Vietnam Television (VTV) and the VnMedia E-Newspaper signed agreements to act as official sponsors and information sponsors for the award.
According to Mr. Nghiem Xuan The, Director of NCCD, the award is aimed at singling out and honouring individuals and teams who introduce information and communication technology (ICT) products and solutions to help the disabled to live independently and integrate into the community. Besides, the award is also intended to prove ICT ability of the disabled.
The prize-awarding ceremony is set to be aired live on VTV on December 3, 2006. According to the Organising Committee, all interested people can get the registration forms from January 15 to October 1, 2006 and send the forms to the VAIP’s office at No. 1 Han Thuyen Street, Hanoi from August 15 to October 10, 2006.
