Vietnam to Hold Conference on Fisheries in S. Korea
Vietnam will hold a conference on its fisheries industry in Busan city of South Korea on July 24 with a view to taking advantage of new trade deals following the ASEAN-South Korea Free Trade Area talks.
The conference will be co-organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and the Vietnamese Trade Office and Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea, as part of a 2006 national trade promotion program, according to the Vietnam Association for Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
South Korea will impose no duty on 5,000 tons of frozen shrimps, 300 tons of fresh shrimp, 2,000 tons of cuttlefish and 2,000 tons of boiled shrimp imported from each ASEAN member each year.
At present, South Korea is the fifth largest importer of Vietnamese seafood. Some 266 Vietnamese businesses have received licenses to export seafood to South Korea to date.
