Customs Formalities Improved

According to General Department of Customs, with the support of APEC Secretariat, the US has recommended a project on modernisation of Vietnamese Customs to promote the integration to international trade. The project will be implemented by Customs Offices of the two countries with the cooperation related government agencies such as foreign affairs, trade, and private sector as Fedex, DHL, etc.

 

The project will focus on electronic processing of commodities declarations (e-mailfest) at main international airports in Vietnam. The project will be completed by the end of 2006. As a result, customs formalities will be simplified for express delivery based on risk analysis of commodities. The project will also develop Authorized Economic Operator Program (AEO) with the participation of law-compliance enterprises. And certification by AEO will help Customs in the risk management. The operation will start in 2007.
