National Assembly Passes IT Law

The National Assembly has passed the Information Technology Law with 82.35 per cent consent. This law, to be effective on January 1, 2007, has sufficient provisions on applications, development, guaranteeing measures, dispute resettlement and IT violation settlement.

This is a very important event for the development of the information and communication technology sector of Vietnam, laying the legal ground to boost the development of the IT sector in the industrialisation and modernisation process.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecom will be responsible for setting up compiling committee to build decrees to instruct the implementation of the law.
