S. Korean STX Group Hopes to Build Shipyard in Vietnam
The South Korean-based STX Group has said that it is conducting negotiations with relevant bodies in Vietnam on a project to build a large scale shipyard in the country.
STX Group expects to build the shipyard in the southern coastal province of Khanh Hoa, local media said, adding that “The group has been working with the government of Khanh Hoa province for the construction of the project.”
However, details related to the size of the shipyard and the timeframe for its construction have yet to be finalized, a corporate official said on the mass media.
According to the Korean Herald, STX Group has four major affiliates, including STX PanOcean Co., STX Shipbuilding Co., STX Engine Co. and STX Energy Co. Its smaller subsidiaries include STXEnpaco Co. and STX Heavy Industries Co.
