Vietnam Eyes US$445Mln from Wooden Chair Exports This Year
Vietnam is expected to earn US$445 million from shipping wooden chairs abroad this year, accounting for 25 per cent of the country’s total woodwork export turnover, according to the Vietnam Timber and Forest product Association (Vietfores).
Exports of chairs had already brought in US$153.2 million in the first four months of this year, up 44.5 per cent on year, with US$103.85 million from the EU market, the biggest importer of Vietnamese wooden chairs.
Besides EU countries, Vietnamese wooden chairs are also being shipped to Japan and the US.
At present, Vietnam has 464 furniture makers throughout the country, of which 88.1 per cent have exporting wooden chairs. 11.8 per cent are foreign-invested companies.
In related news, the Vietnamese enterprises have so far this year fetched US$922 million from woodwork exports, representing an on-year rise of 26 per cent and reaching 54.2 per cent of the whole year target.
