Ninth-generation portfolio simplifies enterprise environments, reduces cost of ownership with latest standardized enterprise technology

Recently, Dell had announced its ninth-generation (9G) PowerEdge servers and storage portfolio. Customers’ feedback played a pivotal role in the design, with the enhanced portfolio delivering what customers value – dramatic performance boosts whilst reducing power requirements, greater commonality in server, storage and software technologies, easier and more cost-effective paths to deploying enterprise technologies across diverse information-technology environments. The new portfolio allows customers to further reduce complexity, enjoy greater manageability of enterprise applications and utilization of IT resources.

“Dell is focused on delivering exceptional value, performance and investment protection for customers. Our 9G portfolio represents our most robust and advanced server and storage offerings available today. It also illustrates our commitment to industry standards, driving commonality and innovation with product design, as well as technology leadership,” said Mike Tan, Senior Regional Manager, Vietnam/Developing Markets Group. “No other company can exceed our ability to combine customer feedback with industry-standard technology to deliver robust, complete enterprise offerings. Today’s announcement is the first of a series of steps Dell is taking to reduce complexity and simplify operations for our customers.”

Dell innovation and single point accountability matter to customers
Specifically, the Dell PowerEdge 1950, 2900 and 2950 servers and Dell PowerEdge 1955 blade server announced today dramatically boost performance. For example, the Dell PowerEdge servers powered by Intel Xeon 5100 series processors can deliver up to a 152 percent performance increase over the previous generation 2U Dell PowerEdge server1. The new server portfolio also lowers power consumption by up to 25 percent, providing an increase in performance per watt of electricity of up to 169 percent, and addressing customer requirements to reduce the cost and environmental impact of data center power demands2

Long term investment protection with Dell Services
Customers can also benefit from Dell’s approach to IT infrastructure services. The company applies its world-class process management and “no excuses” culture to deliver customer flexibility and repeatable quality. As customers grapple with managing IT costs, combining Dell services with the latest generation of server and storage products helps customers maximize their assets and minimize downtime. New and improved Enterprise support services to be announced later this month will continue to improve availability in customers’ complex IT environments
