Mercedes-Benz to Deliver More Cars for APEC Summit 2006
Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV) will soon hand over to the Vietnam government the final batch of luxury class cars which will be used during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Hanoi in November.
With the planned handover later this month or early next month, MBV will complete a contract to provide the summit 42 Mercedes-Benz E 280s for heads of states and 73 E 200Ks for ministers and senior officers attending the meeting.
In May, it handed over 30 E200Ks prior to the APEC-related Senior Officials Meeting and Ministers Responsible for Trade held in Ho Chi Minh City.
Apart from Mercedes-Benz, Ford Vietnam will supply 110 Mondeo sedans, 70 Transit minibuses, and 40 Expedition sedans to serve the event. It has delivered some locally-manufactured Mondeos and Transits while is now importing more Expeditions.
Mercedes-Benz and Ford sold 368 and 1,715 cars in Vietnam in the first half of this year, holding 2.3 per cent and 14.8 per cent of the market share, respectively.
