Vietnamese Goods Exhibition Opens in Japan

The Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, the Trade Promotion Department under the Ministry of Trade (MoT) and the ASEAN-Japan Center on August 7 jointly launched an exhibition to introduce Vietnamese products at Ginza, one of Tokyo’s most exclusive shopping areas.
 
The exhibition showcases traditional Vietnamese handicrafts and consumer goods provided by 16 trading export and import companies including Hapro, Danang Barotex Vilexim and Trung Nguyen.
 
During the three-day exhibition, several trade promotion conferences and exchanges will also be held for businesses from Vietnam and Japan.
 
The event is among series of trade promotion activities to be held this year by the Vietnam Trade Office in Tokyo.
 
In early May 2006, the office and Vietnam Airlines successfully organized the Vietnam Festival in Osaka with an aim at promoting trade, investment and tourism in the market.
 
In related news, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan in coordination with the ASEAN-Japan Center on August 10 will hold a seminar to introduce business experience with Vietnam.
 
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Japan in the first five months of this year reached US$3.8 billion, up 27.8 per cent on-year.
 
Currently, crude oil, coal, plastic products, silks, rubber, coffee, electric wire, seafood, footwear, garments and textiles, woodwork products and handicrafts are key export items of Vietnam. Of these, crude oil and coal exports report high growth in both volume and value.
 
Vietnam and Japan aim to increase their bilateral trade turnover to US$10 billion this year from US$8.16 billion last year.
