Danang to Hold APEC Customs Officers-businesspeople Meeting

Customs officers and businesses from member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum will convene in Danang next month for a discussion to enhance a safe and favorable business environment establishment, boost the exchanges of trade, raise cooperation between businesses and customs officers in battling fake and imitation products.

 

The meeting will be held on September 5, announced General Customs Office.

 

The "APEC Customs Officers-Businesspeople 2006" is a part of the third APEC Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM III) and is an annual activity of the APEC Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures.

 

At SOMs, representatives from 21 APEC members discuss cooperation in APEC and prepare for APEC Ministers Meetings and the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting. SOM I was held in Hanoi and SOM II in Ho Chi Minh City. And the third APEC Senior Officials Meeting (SOM III) will be organized in Danang and Hoi An from September 6 to 17 2006.

 

Being a venue for SOM III is a good opportunity for Danang and Hoi An to publicize their images. This is Danang’s second involvement in APEC Vietnam 2006 activities following the successful APEC Ministerial Meeting on Flu Avian and Pandemics held in the city in early May 2006.
