Several automakers are offering special promotions and valuable incentives to buyers to improve their lagging business, local media reported.

Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV) seems the heavy-weight in this rush, offering buyers of its E280 Elegance sedans different attractive options that may stun others.

From August to September 30, E280 buyers can opt for one of the three attractive packages. The first option comprises of a 60,000-km free maintenance valid in two years, car-polishing for one year, and a coupon of $1,000 to own any items in its diverse collection. A trip to Europe for two persons and a 40-inch Samsung Bordeaux LCD TV launched in Vietnam this month are two other options.

With this promotion, MBV wants to bring the most special treatment to its customers to the most luxury sedan manufactured in Vietnam, said Udo Loersch, director of MBV.

In a same move, Ford Vietnam is offering different attractive gifts to its customers until late August. Under the program, customers who buy Ford Focus Sedan and Ford Transmit will be presented a special voucher of $3,000. Furthermore, Ford buyers can also enjoy free complete check service at all dealers and satellites of the automaker nationwide.

Some other automakers also have introduced softer campaigns.

Toyota Vietnam is carrying out the “2006 Autumn Promotion” under which will be entitled to 20 per cent discount for its services.

Vidamco, a branch of GM-Daewoo, has also launched nationwide after-sale service campaign for all customers using Daewoo cars. The finished campaign offered free inspection, free labor charge, 40 per cent free discount for such parts as oil filter, fuel filter, and engine air filter.

The widespread sale campaigns by members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) are aimed to boost the stagnant sales so far this year. VAMA’s 15 members sold 19,240 vehicles in the first seven months of this year, a 13 per cent on-year fall.
