Vietnam to Set up More Auditing Firms
The State Audit of Vietnam Agency (SAV) is mulling to establish more auditing companies to meet the demand in the country, said general auditor Vuong Dinh Hue.
SAV will set up between 12 and 15 auditing bodies and double the current number of auditors to between 1,350 and 1,500 by 2010, he said.
The plan is designed in the context that Vietnam is facing a serious shortage of auditing workforce despite a huge population.
Deputy Finance Minister Tran Van Ta said his ministry is working with the British Accounting Association in order to increase the number and the quality of auditors.
The Finance Ministry is also cooperating with Singapore and Australia to facilitate the countries' professional associations to come to Vietnam and provide training and to grant international auditor certificates.
Hue said that the SAV has been taking measures to ensure the independence and objectiveness of auditing work.
Due to the lack of auditors, the SAV last year only completed auditing work at nearly half of the total number of localities nationwide, several ministries and branches and few national key projects, Hue said.
