Sharp Competitiveness of Indian Garments and Textiles

The exhibition to showcase Indian garment and textile products held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 30-31 drew the participation of many concerned southern companies. This is a chance for Vietnamese garment and textile companies to approach an abundant source introduced by the Indian Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC).
 
Mr Srifib Roy, Joint Director of SRTEPC, said, this was the fourth time the exhibition was held in Vietnam. 21 Indian participants were leading textile exporters and manufacturers of India, which have introduced their capacities as well as their new products
 
The Indian export of garment and textile products to the Vietnamese market increased from US$7.31 million in 2004-2005 to US$8.62 million in 2005-2006, or 17.92 per cent growth. Of the US$8.62 million export revenues, synthetic cloth accounted for US$7.24 million while the fibre and clothes. Major Indian materials exported to Vietnam include polyester, filament, polyester, viscose, acrylic, polyester with cotton, viscose with filament, and polyester with wool.
 
The advantages of Indian garment and textile industry can bring in various types of materials and models to Vietnamese customers. Unlike other material suppliers, Indian companies can manufacture and supply in small volumes at competitive prices.
 
Mr. Srifib Roy said he believed the cooperation between garment and textile companies of the two countries will help sharpen the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises on the world market. The advantages of Indian garment and textile products together with the cleverness and creativity of Vietnamese firms will help Vietnamese garment and textile firms to polish their trademarks on the market.
