Improving Vietnamese Students Understanding about WTO
The European Commission (EC) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade held a drilling course on “Lecturing WTO and International Commercial Law in Vietnam” in Hanoi on September 21 and 22 in an effort to increase the international economic integration capacity of Vietnamese universities.
This course is part of the Multilateral Trade Assistance Project II (MUTRAP II) framework – an initiative of the EC and the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade in increasing the capacity of the international economic and WTO integration for Vietnam.
Mr. Tran Van Nam, lecturer of the Faculty of Law under the Hanoi National Economic University, said the knowledge of the WTO can be found in various branches of learning like law, economics, international economics, international business and international trade but the lecturing of the WTO is still too shallow.
Specialists of the MUTRAP II said discussing results about the adjustments to syllabi on WTO and International Trade Law in Vietnam will help the compilation of books and materials on this issue. The documents on the matter will be finished in the first quarter of 2007.
Mr. Tran Thi Thu Hang, Director of the MUTRAP, said the project will help universities to compile curricula on the WTO. At the same time, the project will host a three-month training course in Geneva to improve practical knowledge for university lecturers.
