S. Korea Supplies 60 per cent of Vietnam's Imported Cars
As many as 60 per cent of car volumes imported into Vietnam in the first seven months of 2006 came from South Korea, said Mr. Lee Eun Ho Commercial Attaché of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam citing the Vietnamese customs figures.
Most of these vehicles were Hyundai automobiles, Ho said.
Soell Sung, General Director of the Hyundai Asia-Pacific Region, said Hyundai trucks and buses have totally won Vietnamese consumers’ trust for their quality and economy.
This is a favorable condition for Hyundai to expand its business plan in Vietnam, he said.
Hyundai has begun selling cars in Vietnam with two models of Coupe and Santa Fe.
According to the Vietnamese General Statistics Office, Vietnam imported 7,000 automobiles worth $121 million in the first seven months of this year.
