Canon Vietnam Eyes US$700Mln Exports in 2006
Canon Vietnam, a subsidiary of Japan’s Electronics giant Canon, is expected to earn some $700 million from the export of its jet and laser printers this year.
With its laser printer factory operational in April this year, Canon Vietnam is to become the biggest exporter among foreign-invested companies in Vietnam in 2006.
Canon Vietnam's products are now shipped to most countries worldwide, meeting 35 per cent of the world market demand for laser printers.
Currently Canon runs two factories in Vietnam, a jet printer factory in Hanoi’s Thang Long Industrial Park and a laser printer factory in northern Bac Ninh province’s Que Vo Industrial Zone, the largest in the world. The two factories turn out 16 million units a year and create jobs for nearly 10,000 people.
Another Canon jet printer factory with an annual capacity of 8.4 million units is under construction in Tien Son Industrial Park, also in Bac Ninh province. The work started in May and is expected to be complete in February 2007.
