The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Ho Chi Minh City branch, on October 11 held a seminar entitled ‘Vietnam’s accession to WTO: opportunities, challenges and international experience.’ The event aimed at reviewing the country’s situation when it joins WTO (the World Trade Organisation).
The seminar focused on the importance of social responsibility of enterprises when Vietnam joins WTO, standards and requirements of import markets and issues enterprises should pay attention to during international integration so they can meet the demand of the international market.
Addressing the seminar, Pham Chi Lan said to be successful Vietnamese enterprises should learn carefully about issues of international integration, exchange knowledge and information, and build their capability by renewing management, technology, reducing production costs and developing distribution networks, trademarks and human resources. They should promote their co-operation with other enterprises or join business associations. Lan stressed that, more importantly, local enterprises should overcome challenges from themselves and should take immediate actions.
