28 Malaysian Firms to Attend Inttâl Trade Expo in HCM City
Twenty-eight enterprises from Malaysia will participate in the sixth international trade expo (Trade Expo 2006) in Vietnam’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City from December 5-9, said the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
The five-day expo in Vietnam is in sync with Malaysia’s continuous efforts to seek more opportunities and new markets for Malaysian companies, especially within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), said the Matrade.
The expo, which will attract 450 domestic and international businesses, will feature a wide range of general consumer and industrial products and services.
In 2005, two-way trade between Vietnam and Malaysia increased by 26.3 per cent to RM8.26 billion (US$2.25 billion), of which Vietnam spent RM4.39 billion (US$1.2 billion) on imports of major goods such as chemicals, electronic products, iron and steel products, transport equipment and textile and clothing and reaped RM3.87 billion ($1.05 billion) from exports of staple items rice, crude oil, seafood and semi-processed materials, garments, footwear and furniture.
