The Vietnamese State Budget is estimated to collect VND261,100 billion (US$16.3 billion) in 2006, up 20.3 per cent against 2005, including forecasted VND197,970 billion (US$12.37 billion) in the first 10 months of 2006, fulfilling 83.2 per cent of the year, Deputy Finance Minister Tran Van Ta said at a financial meeting in Hanoi on November 23. In the 10 months, the domestic sources (exclusive of crude oil) contributed VND103,705 billion (US$6.3 billion), crude oil VND59,295 billion (US$3.7 billion), import-export activities (VND 40,000 billion (US$2.5 billion), etc.

The State expenditure was VND237,575 billion (US$14.5 billion) in the 10 months, or fulfilling VND80.7 per cent compared with the forecast. The expenditure is predicted at VND315,610 billion (US$19.7 billion), an increase of 7.3 per cent compared with the initial forecast.

According to Ta, to fulfil the yearly target, the State Treasury must collect VND33,000 billion (US$2 billion) in the last four months, or VND16,500 billion each month, a 1.6 times higher than the monthly average in the first 10 months. As a result, this is a difficult target and it needs resolute cooperation of all government levels.
