Vietnam has exported around 65,000 tons of rubber, earning $104 million in the first month of 2007, a report of the General Statistics Office showed.

The report also said the figures presented on year rises of 12.6 per cent and 17.8 per cent, respectively. Last year’s January rubber export volume reached 58,000 tons with value of $88 million.

In the first month of this year, export prices of Vietnamese rubber rose steadily in most foreign markets. High global demand is said to be the major reason for the increase of rubber prices.

SVR 10 rubber to China has sold for $1,729 per ton, some $25 per ton higher than the previous month, while SVR 3L export price is mounting to $2,000 per ton.

China is still the biggest consumer of Vietnamese rubber in Jan 2007, accounting for more than 80 per cent of total export volume.

Vietnam is estimated to ship 830,000 tons of rubber in 2007, earning US$1.4 billion, up 15 per cent in volume and 7-8 per cent in value compared with 2006. (www.vinanet.com.vn, GSO Jan Edition)
