SAMVI Natural Mineral Water: For the Community Health

Samvi is a natural mineral water trademark in Tra Vinh Province. This type of mineral water is sourced from an underground spring in Duyen Hai District. The quality of the natural mineral water in combination with processing and bottling technologies meet all criteria set for a high-grade drinking water. Samvi is a product for the health of the community.
 
For a long time ago, the mineral water is known as a remedy for several diseases - a unique different property in comparison with normal natural water. Vietnam is luckily endowed with a plenty of mineral water sources. At present, a total of more than 400 places have been discovered to have mineral water, including 271 proven ones. Almost all mineral water mines have a high temperature suitable for remedial baths. About 27 mines have higher temperatures, roughly 37 Celsius degree, for bottled mineral water.
 
In Tra Vinh, Samvi mineral water was found in 1986 by the Division of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology for the South of Vietnam when it was measuring a hydro-geological map. Samvi mineral water is tapped at a depth of 385 m with a source temperature of 38.4oC. The water contains a general mineral content of 0.94g/l, a low pH content, a composition of HCO3-Na (bicarbonate sodium) and siliceous acid. In April 2002, Samvi Mineral Water Joint Stock Company commenced construction on a mineral water production factory in Duyen Hai District, Tra Vinh Province. The 8,000 square metre factory, costing more than VND20 billion (US$1.25 million), can manufacture 10 million bottles of mineral water a year under the technologies of Italia. The water processing and bottling is carried out by advanced and automatic technologies to ensure hygiene and purity. Samvi mineral water satisfies all requirements set by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Decision 1626/QD-BKHCNMT) and Europe Union (Standard 80/777/CE). In addition, the company also has a laboratory and quality checking divisions to examine all phases of production. Therefore, Samvi mineral water has been granted basic certifications for the quality and utility of its product by the Ministry of Health. At present, the company is applying the ISO9001:2000 quality management system and expecting to obtain this certificate in 2007. Samvi mineral water is stored in different bottle sizes, suitable for various consumption purposes such as families, offices and restaurants. The distribution network has been developed throughout Tra Vinh Province and nearby localities. C. Samvi Mineral Water Joint Stock Company was set up by 21 shareholders with a chartered capita of VND25 billion (US$1.56 million). Major shareholders of the company included Cable and Telecommunication Materials Company (Sacom), Tra Vinh Water Supply and Drainage Company, Tra Vinh Lottery Company and Tra Vinh Post Office.
