Vietnam, Belgium to Boost Legislative, Educational Cooperation

The Wallonie region of Belgium attaches importance to developing cooperative ties in health care and education with Vietnam, said Chairman of the Parliament of the Wallonie Region Jose Happart at his talks with his counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on February 26.
 
The Belgium delegation began a 7-day visit to Vietnam from February 22. During the meeting Trong said Vietnam wishes to study law-making experience from Belgium in general and Wallonie in particular.
 
President Happart said Wallonie is willing to cooperate with Vietnam for mutual benefit and affirmed that the region is a reliable friend and partner of the country. Happart expressed his wish for Vietnam to act as a gateway to the Asian market for companies from Belgium, particularly Wallonie. He continued that Belgium is willing to help Vietnam penetrate into Europe.
 
Earlier the same day, Vu Mao, chairman of the National Assembly Committee for External Affairs, and President Happart held talks, discussing measures to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies as well as mutual understanding.
 
The delegation of the Regional Parliament of Wallonie also worked with various local authorities, ministries and agencies and visited health care, educational and scientific institutions.
 
The guest was also received by vice chairman of the Hanoi City People’s Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang. (New Hanoi)
