Vietnam's Outbound Investment Reaches Nearly US$1Bln

Vietnamese enterprises have to date invested around US$1 billion abroad into 200 projects, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
 
Among the projects, the industrial production sector accounts for up to 82 projects worth US$733 million, followed by agro-forestry industry with 44 projects valued at US$152 million, with Laos, Russia, Algeria, Malaysia and Singapore being the largest destinations.
 
Outstanding projects are a US$30 million oil exploration project by Vietnam Oil and Gas Corp. (PetroVietnam) in Algeria and Malaysia, and the Petroleum Technical Services Company (PTSC)’s US$23 million project to build Xekaman hydropower plant in Laos.
 
The Southeast-Asian country reported attraction of US$60 billion of registered foreign investment capital as of late December last year, with around US$28.6 billion disbursed capital, the MPI said. (Liberated Saigon)
