Industrial Production Value Falls in February

According to the Ministry of Industry’s Planning Department, the industrial production value was estimated at VND39,873 billion (US$2.49 billion) in February, down 19 per cent on month but up 11.9 per cent on year. The fall in the month was attributed to the shorter working days, with one-week Tet holiday. Between January and February, the industrial sector generated VND89,084 billion (US$5.57 billion), up 17.5 per cent on-year.
 
The State-run sector saw a two-month increase of 8.8 per cent (Centrally-run State-owned enterprises reported average rise of 12.1 per cent, locally-run State-owned enterprises made a 0.7 per cent rise.) The private sector increased 19.8 per cent and foreign-invested sector’s production value was up 22.0 per cent (oil and gas value was up 6 per cent and other industries up 25.5 per cent).
