Vietnam Tops Southeast Asia in ACM/ICPC Contest
The 31st ACM/ICPC Contest 2007, held in Tokyo, Japan on March 15, announced its champions. Vietnam’s Chicken Team of Vietnam National University’s Technology College came in 44th out of 88 at the international programming contest for students, above all other Southeast Asian rivals and ranked 12th in Asia. According to Nguyen Long, General Secretary of Vietnam Association of Information Processing, this is an initial admirable achievement and is a successful step of the Vietnamese young ICT talents.
The 2007 championship went to Warsaw University of Poland, followed by Qinghua University, IT University, St Petersburg Mechanics and Optics University and MIT holding the first prize. The organisers also presented four silver and four bronze prizes to teams ranking from 5th to 12th.
