Established in 1994 as a subsidiary of world renowned auto manufacturers Mitsubishi and Proton, Vina Star Motors Corporation (Vina Star Motors) was one of the first automobile joint-ventures in Vietnam. Since then, Vina Star Motors has launched a range of modern and high quality vehicles in the country. Mitsubishi L300 was first launched in Vietnam in 1995, and many others with premium features such as Pajero, Lancer, Jolie and Grandis were introduced later. Now, after 13 years of operation in Vietnam, Vina Star Motors has sold more than 25,000 cars of all kinds in Vietnam and contributed over VND 2,500 billion to the State budget. Although there has recently been severe competition in the local automobile industry and many new car brands were launched, Vina Star Motors retains its sale volume. 3,398 cars were sold in 2006, reaching 10.44 per cent market share among 12 joint venture automobile companies in Vietnam.
Vina Star Motors is proud to give to customers high quality vehicles from Japan, which meet customers’ demands, from Pajero - 4WD, Grandis – New age sedan, Lancer Gala, Jolie Multi Purpose Vehicle, to Canter Truck. These vehicles are more and more familiar and become an indispensable companion to families, as well as of company’s business, and contribute to social development.
The company takes pride in a nationwide dealer network including 23 showrooms that can supply vehicles, spare parts and after-sales service, not only in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, but also in provinces where quick spare parts supply and after-sales services are essential to vehicle users.
Over the last 13 years, Vina Star Motors has not only contributed to the economic development of Vietnam, but is also deeply committed to being a good corporate citizen. The company offers hundreds of jobs to local people with average salary of over 4 million VND per month. In 2005, Vina Star Motors contributed more than VND 700 million to poor students and other charitable activities. It was an honour for the company to receive Medals of Merit issued by the Prime Minister, Binh Duong People’s Committee and the Ministry of Finance.
This is a good result after a long period of construction and development. According to Mr Hagiwara, General Director of Vina Star Motors, the biggest objective in the coming time is to become the No 1 automobile assembler in Vietnam. He added that Vietnam is a high potential market and Vina Star Motors will continuously improve itself and focus on quality and service.
