MUTRAP Aids Vietnamese Agriculture to Follow WTO Commitments
A workshop on “Reviewing Vietnam’s Commitments under WTO Agreement on Agriculture and Putting forward Policies under WTO Rules” was opened in Hanoi April 5. This was under the framework of the Second Year Plan and AGRI-1 Action Plan of the MUTRAP Project.
The seminar was organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade in collaboration with the European Commission (EC) mission to publicize preliminary survey results of MUTRAP (Multilateral Trade Policy Assistance Programme) and help Vietnam boost socioeconomic development through sustainable agricultural reform policies under WTO rules. The seminar focused on new “green box” policies, development policies, agricultural policies and other commercial measures that could be applied in accordance with WTO rules.
The meeting also mentioned several results reached at the Doha Round and their effects on Vietnam. The workshop also revealed the initial study results of AGRI-1 Action.
