Vietnam and Mexico should boost cooperation in economics, trade, education and cultural affairs to keep up with political relations, according to Vietnamese Vice President Truong My Hoa.

Meeting a delegation from the External Relations Committee of Mexican Senate in Hanoi May 7, Hoa thanked the guest for supporting Vietnam’s WTO entry and its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council’s 2008-2009 term.

Earlier, the delegation worked with the Vietnamese National Assembly’s External Relations Committee, and leaders of Ministries of Trade and Agriculture & Rural Development.

The Mexican Chamber of Deputies just decided to set up a Mexico-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group to strengthen relations with Vietnam.

In March, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly's Committee for External Relations Ton Nu Thi Ninh visited Mexico to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education and health care, and shared experiences in law making, poverty reduction and rural development. (VNA)
