PetroVietnam to Buy Eight Oil Tankers

State-run Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) will buy eight oil tankers from now until 2015 for domestic oil and gas shipping, its subsidiary PetroVietnam Insurance said.
 
The five ships are estimated to cost US$219 million.
 
The state oil monopoly will buy five Aframax tankers from 2007 to 2009.
 
The tankers will carry inputs as well as outputs for two future oil refineries, underway Dung Quat and blueprint Nghi Son.
 
PetroVietnam has bought three 105,000-ton oil tankers from Vinashin Business Group. The first will be delivered in 2008 and the rest in 2009.
 
PV Trans will operate the ships.
