US Co. Plans US$20Mln Garment & Textile Plant in Central Province
The US’s HBI Group, an underwear and sportswear maker, plans to build a US$20-million garment workshop in Hue City’s Phong Dien Industrial Park, in central Thua-Thien Hue province, local Youth Newspaper said.
Once operated, the project is expected to generate 2,000-4,000 jobs, said a provincial official, adding that however, the detailed information about the investment has not made available at the moment.
Between January and July this year, Thua-Thien Hue province attracted seven new foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, raising its total FDI capital to over US$610 million to date.
The province’s largest FDI is a US$276 million high-ranking tourism complex by Singapore’s Banyan Tree Group in Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone.
The central locality is also seeking investors for 169 key projects in the 2006-2010 period with focus on tourism, services sectors and infrastructure development, according to the provincial Department of Investment Promotion. (Youth)
