"Connect Excitedly with VNPT & Intel"
Recently, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Intel announced a joint programme called “Connect excitedly with VNPT & Intel” across the country. This is the largest program ever for local internet and computer users.
According to the Vietnam ICT Outlook 2007 report announced in July, the rate of internet users per capital in Vietnam is approximately 20 per cent, with annual growth of 4 per cent. With over 16 million people using the internet (as of May 2007), Vietnam ranks at 17th in terms of internet users worldwide, and 6th in Asia. However, counting the percentage of population accessing the internet, Vietnam ranks just 9th in Asia and 93rd in the world. Broadband internet service has just come to Vietnam, but it has had strong growth in recent years. Just in the period from May of 2006 to June of 2007, it increased more than twice (753,000 subscribers as compared with 310,000 in May of 2006).
According to the representative of VNPT, this group is bringing easy-to-connect packages with the most reasonable costs to further enhance internet connectivity and accessibility among local people. Through large promotion programmes this year, VNPT expects more Vietnamese people to be able to access broadband internet service, making the internet a useful tool to open up the doors of knowledge to enrich participation in today’s open economy.
“The internet and PCs are becoming more and more popular in the world. With our leadership in the ICT industry, Intel is committed to enable local users to approach the latest products and the most advanced technologies with higher performance, better energy efficiency and lower prices, allowing them to take full advantage of internet resources to further enrich their lives.” said Mr Marcus Low, General Manager, Intel SEA. “With Intel’s products and technologies, users can enjoy the best experience with what technologies can bring to their life in both home and work, and even on the go.”
