Vietnam to Link with Asian Open Software Alliance

The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and the Asian Open Source Software Alliance (Asianux) have recently inked an agreement, marking the developing country’s participation in the alliance, the Vietsoftware Company.
 
Hoang Le Minh, Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Post and Telecommunications confirmed the information at a press conference introducing the Softmart 2007 in HCM City recently.
 
The membership of Asianux will bring about new opportunities for Vietnam’s software industry, according to IT experts.
 
The accession to Asianux will be officially announced at the opening ceremony of Softmart 2007 in HCM City September 27, Minh added.
 
Asianux, including Japan, South Korea, China and now Vietnam, is an alliance which was founded on the commitments of the governments of member countries on the application and development of open source software.
 
It is estimated that the ICT industry will bring in up to US$7 billion in revenue by 2010. (Vietnam Economic Times, VietNamNet)
