Vietnamese Prime Minister and the high-ranking delegation wrapped up September 28 the trip to the U.S. after gaining strong supports from foreign leaders for its United Nations Security Council bid and contracts worth billions of dollars signed with the U.S.’s partners, state media said Monday.

The PM came out of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly held in New York with a high optimism of a seat at the UN Security Council.

“The UN General Assembly will not conduct the vote on five non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, including Vietnam, until October 16, but through contacts with leaders of nations, we have already received strong support and belief in the country’s capacity to discharge the mission of a non-permanent member in the UN agency,” Dung told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in an exclusive interview.

The PM called on these groups to continue their investment into the Vietnamese market, noting that an agreement on investment protection will be possibly realized in the upcoming time to facilitate foreign investors including those of the U.S. to work in Vietnam.

On the occasion, seven contracts worth of billions of dollar were signed between businessmen of sides, outstandingly those between the Vietnam national Shipping Lines (Vinalines) and the Citigroup and SSA Marine to develop Vinalines’s fleets, seaports and maritime services.
